NOTE ON MATERIALS:
James carefully chooses all his materials for absolute highest quality, permenance and archivability. He uses only the finest paints/pigments, media and time tested techniques. Oils include: M.Graham and Gamblin (each made in U.S.A.), Old Holland, and James' own hand ground paints. James paints only on highest quality substrates including copper, oil primed belgian linen, hardboard and birch ply. Extremely large linens are stretched on museum grade aluminum stretchers and small to medium sized linens are mounted onto various museum grade substrates including aluminum/plastic composites, gatorfoam or premium birch ply. Most frames are made in the USA, hand carved, gold leafed and finished. Of course, James is always conscientious of natural resources use, and waste products and minimizes his impact on the environment.
Prints: Photography and Giclee painting reproductions are printed on 100% cotton with pigmented ultra long lasting inks (rated at approx 70-100 years without noticeable fading) which far outlast traditional professional photography techniques. Please note: although web images may appear blurry due to compression and other constraints, please be aware that 20 inch prints retain sharp, fine detail.
